Wages: Warning strikes at the post office continue

In the collective bargaining dispute with the post office, the Verdi services union has also called for all-day warning strikes for Saturday. The call is aimed at employees in selected companies in the parcel and letter centers as well as in parcel, letter and group delivery nationwide, it said in a message from early Saturday morning.

In the collective bargaining conflict, Verdi is demanding 15 percent higher wages for the approximately 160,000 employees in the Post division

The post expects a record profit of around 8.4 billion euros for 2022, said the deputy Verdi chairwoman and negotiator in the wage conflict, Andrea Kocsis. "The company owes this success to the work of its employees. Against this background, our wage demands are necessary, fair and feasible."

There had already been warning strikes at the post office last week, and the second wave of warning strikes began on Thursday. According to a Verdi spokeswoman, around 18,000 employees across Germany stopped working at various locations last Friday.
