The Vox spokesman in the Congress of Deputies, Iván Espinosa de los Monteros, has challenged this Friday the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, to walk down the same street as the King Emeritus to see who receives more support from the citizens.

“I would like to see the President of the Government or the leaders of Podemos walk down a street next to King Juan Carlos to see who is applauding and who is being criticized,” the Vox deputy has transferred, while questioning whether they criticize and ask for explanations to emeritus those who "enjoy much less popular support".

This has been expressed in an interview on TVE, collected by Europa Press, when asked about the return of the emeritus to Spain this Thursday on his first trip since he settled in August 2020 in the United Arab Emirates.

Espinosa de los Monteros has asserted that the Government is "enormously envious of the king" and that everything he does "is going to annoy him." Thus, he has insisted that Sánchez does not like to be next to the one who was monarch for almost four decades because he "compares himself and it goes wrong."

In relation to the suitability of the visit of Don Juan Carlos and his participation in the Sanxenxo regattas, the leader of Vox has emphasized that an 84-year-old and "absolutely free" person "can do whatever he wants".

He has slipped, in this sense, that "there has been no punishable attitude" because it has been investigated "for a long time" and "much beyond what is necessary." "A person who has been reliably investigated for a long time and of whom absolutely nothing has been found, I do not see what explanations he has to give, the truth," he has added in relation to the explanations that are demanded of him from the left.

Finally, it has made the Government ugly that the State Attorney General's Office has prolonged the investigation "artificially" and even so "they have not found anything punishable," he stressed. In this key, he has taken the opportunity to throw in the face of the Executive that "does not comply with the Constitution" and that therefore "he should have resigned."
