Vaccination against monkeypox is still possible at the Jena University Hospital (UKJ). Thuringia was spared a major monkeypox outbreak. Anyone who belongs to the risk group and would like to be vaccinated as a precaution or after contact with an infected person can continue to use the offer, the university hospital announced on Thursday. According to the information, appointments with the outpatient clinic of the Institute for Infectious Medicine and Hospital Hygiene can be made by telephone.

The infectiological outpatient clinic is one of three contact points in Thuringia that vaccinates against monkeypox. The vaccine is a live vaccine that is given twice, 28 days apart. The Standing Committee on Vaccination (Stiko) recommends vaccination for people aged 18 and over who have had contact with a patient infected with monkeypox or as a precautionary measure for people with an increased risk of infection.
