USA: Out of corn: Customer freaks out and shoots at KFC employees

In St. Louis, Missouri, a KFC employee is hospitalized after a man shot him. As several US media reports, the man drove his car to a drive-in around 6:30 p.m. on Monday evening. When he placed his order, the staff informed him that the restaurant was out of corn.

The customer is said to have freaked out and threatened the employees through the loudspeakers. Finally, he pulled up to the drive-thru window with a gun. When an employee came outside to speak to the angry man, he reportedly shot him. The man, who was between 40 and 50 years old according to the police, then fled.

Despite a serious abdominal injury, the 25-year-old victim was able to run back to the branch, where his colleagues alerted the police. The man was taken to a hospital. According to the information, his condition is said to be critical but stable.

It's not the first time a disgruntled customer has taken up arms in the United States: In June, a 26-year-old employee at the Subway fast-food chain in Atlanta, Georgia, was shot dead by a customer. He was upset that he had too much mayonnaise on his sandwich. A 24-year-old colleague of the woman was seriously injured.

A year earlier, a woman at a Burger King drive-thru in Memphis, Tennessee, apparently had no patience to wait for her food. Because she wasn't going fast enough, she got out of her car without further ado, leaned through the window and verbally abused the staff. Then she grabbed her gun and fired multiple shots. Then she flees. The employees were not injured.
