The National Police have arrested two 37-year-old men in Alicante as alleged perpetrators of a crime of theft through the well-known method of "sowing", with which after using a distraction maneuver they stole money and effects from a Ukrainian refugee. value of more than 12,000 euros.
The victim, who had fled Ukraine with his family to Alicante, told the agents that while he was inside his vehicle, a man approached him and after asking him for an address to distract him, another person took the opportunity to open one of the front doors of the vehicle and steal a shoulder bag that contained all the money and objects such as a tablet and a mobile phone.
The description provided by the victim, as well as the inspection carried out on the vehicle by the Alicante Scientific Police Brigade, led to the identification of one of the perpetrators who was recognized by the victim.
After the efforts made by the Investigation Group of the Northern District Police Station, in charge of the investigation, they were able to locate and arrest the two perpetrators of the events.
Likewise, after a search carried out at the home of one of the detainees in which the Canine Guides Unit of the Provincial Police Station of Alicante participated, the money in cash and the various objects of great value such as tablets and mobile phones previously stolen were seized. to the complainant. In the search, the agents also located cocaine and hashish, as well as a precision scale.
