Travel wherever you want?: Germany in third place: These are the most powerful passports in the world

South Africa, Australia or rather Canada? If you have a German passport, you are spoiled for choice for your next trip from an impressive 190 destinations. This is how many countries we can travel to without a visa with our passport. This means that the German passport is again in third place in the global passport rankings by the British consulting firm "Henley

The most powerful passport in the world is based in Asia, more precisely in Japan. The Land of the Rising Sun allows locals visa-free travel to as many as 193 countries. This means that the Japanese have probably the greatest freedom to travel this year. Singapore and South Korea share second place with visa-free access to 192 countries each.

The ranking shows that residents of Western countries in particular have a great deal of freedom to travel, apart from the first three Asian countries, which have been trying for years to promote globalization - and thus also free travel. But there is also another side of the coin: countries whose passport restricts the holders rather than opening up opportunities for them.
