A driver fled from the police in Höhr-Grenzhausen (Westerwaldkreis) at high speed. The speed within the built-up area was at times more than 100 kilometers per hour, the police said on Wednesday night. During the chase, the man also turned off the car lights.
The starting point of the pursuit was a police check late Tuesday evening. When the 24-year-old saw the officers, he turned and drove away. The officers later lost sight of the car. A little later, however, they discovered a pedestrian who ran away from them. The officers arrested him.
According to the police, the arrested person is the driver who had parked and hidden his car nearby. The man was said to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs. A small amount of narcotics was also found in his car. The officers confiscated the suspect's driver's license. He also had to give a blood sample. We are now investigating against him.
