Shortly before the start of the Easter holidays in Bavaria, the first major wave of travel of the year is expected. Travelers have to be prepared for crowded streets, crowded trains and waiting times at the airports. The ADAC expects traffic jams on the motorways, especially in the south of the Free State, as a spokesman for the automobile club announced. In particular, on Friday afternoon and on Saturday and Sunday morning and afternoon, things are likely to get tight on the trunk roads. The routes to Austria and Italy as well as to the local recreation areas in Upper Bavaria and the Allgäu are also affected.

Deutsche Bahn is also expecting a large number of travelers on the rails. A spokeswoman for Deutsche Bahn said that strong demand is expected, especially on the connections between the big cities and in the holiday regions. In order to avoid full trains, it is advisable to travel before Maundy Thursday or after the public holidays.

Even those who want to travel far away at Easter must expect delays. Munich Airport is expecting up to 1.6 million passengers during the Easter holidays. A spokesman announced that more than 13,300 take-offs or landings were registered from April 1 to 16. That's slightly more than a year ago, when the airport saw 13,000 flights. Easter is the first big travel wave of the year. The airport therefore strongly advises passengers to check in online in advance and allow enough time. Around 177,000 passengers are expected at Nuremberg Airport up to and including April 16.
