The National Police has arrested a person on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in the violent death of a 50-year-old man at his home in the Alicante town of Orihuela. The victim's mother, an 80-year-old woman, has also been seriously injured with a strong head injury, for which she was taken to hospital after being stabilized by medical personnel.

Also, the agents have managed to locate a hammer as a possible murder weapon, sources of the investigation have confirmed to Europa Press.

The events occurred in the early hours of this Tuesday, around 01:15 am, when the intervention of the CICU was requested to assist two people injured in a house, located in the urban area of ​​Orihuela.

Apparently, the neighbors have been the ones who have alerted the Local Police and the health services, who first found the old woman badly injured inside the house, along with the man, who in this case had injuries and strong blows to the head caused by a blunt object, police sources have detailed.

A SAMU unit and an SVB unit have traveled there. Once at the scene, the medical team confirmed the man's death, while the woman was evacuated to the Vega Baja hospital in Orihuela in the advanced life support ambulance after being stabilized.

Subsequently, the injured woman has been transferred from this hospital to the General University Hospital of Elche. The Police have opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the attack.
