The XVIII Women's Universe Tour, promoted by Iberdrola within the framework of the Women's Universe program, endorsed by the Higher Sports Council and the Sports Foundation, will bring the "great festival of sport and equality" to the capital of Zamora on the 18th and 19th of June.

«It will be a weekend full of activities, in which many sports federations from Castilla y León will participate. It will be an event that will bring together many women, many girls and many athletes, in general, to vindicate equality in sport, which still has to be vindicated today, "said the Councilor for Sports of the Zamora City Council Manuel Alesander Alonso.

"Unfortunately, women's sport is no longer practiced at certain ages and it is a way of claiming that it can continue to be done at a high level at older ages," he added, in addition to thanking the Higher Sports Council and Iberdrola for "thinking in Zamora» to restart the call for the Women's Universe Tour after the pandemic.

The head of Institutional Relations at Iberdrola in Castilla y León, Ignacio Antolín, stressed that the electricity company "runs at home, never better said", with the race to be held in the context of the Women's Universe Tour. “Iberdrola is very dedicated and focused on gender equality through sport. Hence, we are promoting 32 women's federations and, for us, it has been a magnificent opportunity to bring this top-level sporting event in the national context to Zamora », he highlighted.

For his part, the director of the Women's Universe Tour, Ignacio Solana, describes the sporting event, which will occupy 3,000 square meters, between the Plaza de La Marina and the surrounding streets, as a "great festival of sport and equality".

“We are going to bring 32 national federations and local clubs. We will be able to see and enjoy the recognition of the local, regional and great international sportswomen who will be able to attend », she has indicated. «That the citizens of Zamora can enjoy different sports practices. There will also be a Fitness marathon on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning and, finally, the 'Zamora, Fit for Equality' Race, which we celebrate on Sunday at 10:00 a.m., and whose proceeds are entirely dedicated to Aspace”, he concluded.
