The Military Emergency Unit (UME) is training at the Chinchilla Training Center (Cenad), in the province of Albacete, to be ready to fight the forest fires that occur every summer.

Specifically, the First Emergency Intervention Battalion (BIEM I) arrived last Monday, June 6, and will be there until Wednesday, June 15. As reported by the Ministry of Defense, there are 365 soldiers and 134 vehicles, integrating the logistical capabilities of the Emergency Support and Intervention Regiment (Raiem) and a machine from the Third Emergency Intervention Battalion (BIEM III), whose base is located in Bétera, in the province of Valencia.

The training will consist of both technical and tactical training of the units, such as the technical use of fire, forest urban interface, direct attack on fire with extensive hose lines, widening of firebreaks, joint work with heavy machinery and work with mechanical tools. and light.

In addition, coordination with aerial means will be practiced thanks to the seaplanes of the 43rd Army Air Group and helicopters from the Emergency Helicopter Battalion (Bheleme II). These aircraft will carry out reconnaissance, water discharges, helicarriage of material and evacuation of personnel.
