In order to improve energy efficiency, reduce light pollution and move towards a more sustainable city, the avenues of Europe and Madrid, La Legua and Paseo Juan Pablo II will have new lighting.

The Councilor for Works, Noelia de la Cruz, has indicated this Tuesday that, among the projects that are going to be launched, the one for Europa Avenue stands out, which began this week, and which will continue with the replacement of street lights. Corpus Christi street. This investment will exceed 75,000 euros.

These works combine two actions, on the one hand, the replacement of the median luminaires by LED-type ones with warm light and low light pollution, and on the other, the installation of new lighting on the service road located between Corpus Christi and General Villalba and the sidewalk next to the Parque de las Tres Culturas.

"Both the sidewalk and the road have a clear lighting deficit, so 5-meter-high columns with two LED lights will be installed, so that we will illuminate the sidewalk and the road," Noelia de la Cruz commented.

Thus, 152 lights will be installed on Avenida de Europa and on the service road, which will be telemanaged point by point in order to adapt the level of lighting to the real needs of the street depending on the time and the time of year, with the consequent energy savings and in the municipal electricity bill.

To this project must be added the replacement of street lights on Corpus Christi, between Rosa Parks and Avenida de Europa. The Councilor for Works also recalled that a few weeks ago she completed the renovation of Rosa Parks Street, next to the Three Cultures Park in the Palomarejos neighborhood area, with an investment of 40,000 euros.

On the other hand, Noelia de la Cruz has reported that in the coming weeks the bidding process for the public lighting of La Legua and the surroundings of Paseo Juan Pablo II and Plaza Federico García Lorca will begin, with an investment of 192,500 euros with financing of the Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development Strategy (Edusi).

In addition, the beach volleyball court in the Valparaíso neighborhood will be illuminated "immediately" and the archaeological authorization for the lighting of Carlos III between the Camino del Molinero and San Pedro el Verde is in process, this action will involve an investment of 68,000 euros.

The project for the change to LED luminaires in Madrid avenue and the Toletvm roundabout with a budget of 70,000 euros, and the Río Bullaque project between Río Fresnedoso and Río Guadarrama, together with specific lighting, is also currently being drafted. of 10 more pedestrian crossings, with an investment of 150,000 euros.
