The PP demands that Miguel Esteban be a basic health area and have a 24-hour emergency

The president of the Popular Party of Toledo, Carlos Velázquez, has called on the regional government on Monday to rectify and declare Miguel Esteban a basic health zone to guarantee 24-hour health care to residents of the area.

This has been pronounced in a visit to the municipality, together with the mayor of the town and general secretary of the provincial PP, Pedro Casas, and the deputy general secretary, José Manuel Velasco. Miguel Esteban (4,800 inhabitants) only has one doctor's office, which should have been transformed into a health center years ago, according to Velázquez. However, four years ago the Government of García-Page excluded Miguel Esteban from the map of basic health zones in the province, which left the municipality without a health center and without 24-hour emergency care.

In this sense, the president recalled that, “in 2017 Page denied Miguel Esteban the right to have a health center, which had already been approved and planned, and for which the city council had already ceded the necessary land for its construction. But Page cut the right of neighbors to have a health center, a decision that must be rectified immediately.

Carlos Velázquez has asked why Page denies the residents of Miguel Esteban the right to have a health center with a continuous point of care, which guarantees 24-hour emergencies. In addition, he regretted that "the municipality is providing the most important service, the most sensitive and the closest to the citizens in a House of Culture, and not in facilities for exclusively sanitary use and equipped with all the necessary means, for the lack of commitment with the health of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha».

In the same way, the mayor, Pedro Casas, has insisted on the need for Miguel Esteban to have a health center as soon as possible, which also provides services to the inhabitants of El Toboso, due to the volume of users that both municipalities represent. , which justifies that they form a basic health zone independent of Quintanar de la Orden.

Likewise, Casas explained that the construction of the health center is also necessary to save improper expenses for the municipality, since the expenses of the current office are financed by the city council, when the health center must be financed by whoever has the competence that is Sescam .

For Casas, this endowment would also guarantee having pharmaceutical assistance in the town 24 hours a day, "an essential service and a right to which the residents of Miguel Esteban do not have access due to the poor health planning of the Page Government Health Department."
