Fifty naked girls dance in the candlelight. Three pairs of eyes follow the performance with a connoisseur's eye. As the climax of their striptease, the dancers get down on all fours and snap at chestnuts, which the three spectators throw to them: Pope Alexander VI. and his favorite children, Cesare and Lucrezia Borgia. This "whores tournament" from 1501 has been handed down in the private diaries of the papal secretary Burchard.
