The Councilor for Employment and European Funds, Francisco Rueda, presented this Monday the platform for Green Employment, an initiative aimed at improving the training and employability of unemployed people in sectors aimed at decarbonisation, the use of renewable energies and the climate change advocacy. He was accompanied at the appearance by Ignacio Baratech, head of the Ingenius Business Area.

The initiative consists of training actions for 40 unemployed people, who do not need prior knowledge or experience, taught by the Polytechnic University of Madrid, in occupations linked to renewable energy installations.

"This training will be accompanied by guidance and communication with local companies with the aim of achieving at least 40% insertion and, of course, they are free," said the municipal official, who has announced that the City Council website will publish in the next days the bulletin for registrations.

Rueda explained that this initiative responds to a "high and growing demand for qualified green employment that unfortunately is not available". This situation "can hinder investments and the implementation of transformative projects promoted with European Funds, but it also represents a clear employment opportunity for many people, if they have the appropriate training and guidance, and from the City Council we do not want to leave pass this opportunity for the Toledo men and women ».

It is with this objective that this collaboration framework was born with the Platform for Green Employment, an organization made up of the Spanish Green Growth Group; Ecodes, which brings together more than 1,800 companies, 500 Public Administrations and more than 600 social entities; Ingenius, which is the world's largest employment company, and the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

The Councilor for Employment explained that the Biodiversity Foundation, within the framework of those Next Generation Funds, has granted financing for the start-up of this project, and "when Ingenius contacted us to offer us to join this project, we did not hesitate and we established a collaboration protocol» that now crystallizes in this training proposal.

Francisco Rueda has pointed out that this action, along with the rest of the policies carried out by the local government, is the response "to the commitment that we maintain with the 3,770 unemployed people that we have in the city and with the fight against climate change and decarbonising the economy ».

For his part, Ignacio Baratech has announced that the first program will begin in June or July and is aimed "at one of the professional profiles that is being generated with the ecological transition, such as energy consulting." The second cycle will be directed to the installation of photovoltaic panels.

The duration of these programs is 6 months "and the objective is to train 40 unemployed people from Toledo for companies that are already demanding these profiles and that they cannot find in the job market." Baratech has specified that no previous academic or professional qualification is required.
