The Il Volo trio will revive Morricone's soundtracks at the Liceu

In the same week that the documentary Ennio: el maestro, which pays tribute to the great Italian composer Ennio Morricone, is released, the vocal trio Il Volo will offer a performance where they will sing some of their legendary soundtracks. Il Volo Sings Morricone is a concert with a symphony orchestra that will take place this Sunday, May 15 (8:00 p.m.) at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, within the program of the Suite Festival Barcelona 2022. La Vanguardia subscribers have a 10% discount discount on concert tickets, as long as they are purchased at Vanguardia Tickets.

Il Volo, made up of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, debuted in 2009 as participants in the Italian television talent show RAI 1. Their first album was certified Platinum and entered the Top Ten on Billboard USA. Their successes also include two Latin Grammy nominations and the 2014 Latin Billboard Awards for Best Artist of the Year, Latin Album Performing Duo/Group.

In 2015 they were proclaimed winners of the San Remo Festival with the song Grande Amore, and they represented Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2019, coinciding with their tenth anniversary, the albums Musica and 10 Years are released, with which they begin a world tour interrupted by the pandemic.

The break period due to the health situation allows Il Volo to concentrate on his new project and work on the repertoire of master Ennio Morricone. This work culminates in 2021 with the album Il Volo sings Morricone and a new world tour that will stop this Sunday at the Liceu in Barcelona.
