The IES Virgen del Carmen de Jaen has been honored at a national level by admission to the Order of Alfonso X el Sabio with the category of Plaque of Honor. This recognition was approved by Order EFP/119/2022 of January 13 and published in the Official State Gazette, February 25, 2022. In a note, the center reports that the diploma was first received in the center. This document was signed by King Felipe VI, Grand Master of the Order, and Pilar Alegria as Minister of Education and Vocational Training.

On May 31, Francisco Aguilera, director of the IES was presented with the plaque at Madrid's headquarters of the Ministry of Education. Minister Pilar Alegria received the plaque, along with Deputy Minister Maria del Carmen Castillo Mena.

According to the center, this recognition "gives value the immense work and effort that has been developed during these 175years for the education of youth in our city, province, and it is an added value which fills our entire educational community full of pride."
