In the Basque Country, more than 568,316 people receive some type of contributory pension, which includes retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, orphanhood or in favor of relatives. According to the latest data offered by the Social Security itself (those from April), the average benefit of Basque pensioners stands at 1,348.29 euros per month compared to 1,087.48 of the state. By province, we see that in the Basque Country the highest pension is found in Álava (1,369.58 euros per month), followed by Bizkaia (1,360.30 euros) while Gipuzkoa stands at 1,320.96 euros.

However, if we go into detail to find out which municipalities have the highest and lowest averages, we will see that the highest averages are in Bizkaia and the lowest in Álava. Thus, we see that the only Basque locality where the average is above 1,600 euros is Getxo (1,602.32) and that Bizkaia is the territory where more municipalities exceed 1,500. In addition to Gexto, they are Artea (1,567.59), Pentzia (1,558.66), Arantzatzu (1,548.03), Zierbana (1,519.04), Barrika (1,510.43), Sopela (1,506.61) and Garay (1,502). .79). Bilbao stays at 1,356.09 euros. For their part, the lowest pensions would be in Errezil (1,009.42), Beizama (1,041.04) and Aretxabaleta (1,093.60), the only three municipalities that do not reach 1,100 euros.

For its part, in Álava, the pensioners with the best pay are in Zigoitia (with 1,485.02 euros per month), Artzienaga (1,464.85) and Llodio (1,461.62). Behind them, and also with monthly payments of more than 1,400 euros, are Legutio (1,448.57), Burgelu (1,447.86), Amurrio (1,445.84), Vitoria (1,448.57) and Zuia (1,400.05). For their part, the lowest in Álava and Euskadi are in Elvillar (707.38) and Baños de Ebro (707.44) although they do not reach 800 euros in Navaridas (718.45), Valle de Arana (775.97, the only one that is not in Rioja Alavesa) and Samaniego (793.22).
