The Minister of Family, Isabel Blanco, explained this Friday that the number of families served through the different mechanisms of the Network for the Protection of Families in Castilla y León fell to 107,000 last year, compared to the 121,000 registered in 2020 , which places the figures at levels similar to those of 2019, before the outbreak of the pandemic.

Blanco has participated in Ponferrada at the opening of the XXV Congress of the Federation of Food Banks (Fesbal) and valued the "fundamental work" carried out by these institutions during the most difficult stages of the health crisis.

In this sense, he has pointed to the need to strengthen collaboration with these entities, through the implementation of new measures that help to face challenges such as the rise in food and fuel prices, reports Ical.

In this regard, he recalled that the Board is articulating a new normative element baptized as social emergency bonds. This tool, he explained, will allow funds to be made available "in the shortest possible time" in the event of a "surprising situation", so that families suffering from this type of situation can be attended "quickly and efficiently". As detailed by Blanco, the goal is for the maximum period to be between 15 days and one month, from when the need arises until the families receive help.
