The Alicante Provincial Council has made a new batch of 100% electric vehicles available to some thirty municipalities in the province, the third this year, within the institution's environmental strategy of promoting the sustainability of the territory. These utility vehicles are part of the Provincial Council's call for ecological mobility, endowed with a global investment of 6.2 million euros, which includes both cars and recharging points and represents the largest economic contribution in history.

The initiative responds to two plans launched by the Provincial Council with a historical investment of 4.7 million focused on promoting sustainable mobility, combating climate change and reducing air pollution in the province's municipalities.

For this purpose, a total of 171 electric vehicles have been supplied to 122 towns with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants.

In addition, the bases for granting subsidies for the installation of recharging points for electric vehicles have recently been approved, with an amount of 1.5 million euros. This is a newly created call, whose deadline for submitting applications is open, until next June 15.

The president of the Diputación de Alicante, Carlos Mazón, and the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, have attended, together with the deputies for the Environment, Miguel Ángel Sánchez, and for Roads, Alejandro Morant, as well as the deputy for the region, Juan Bautista Roselló, and the councilors benefited from the utility vehicles at the vehicle collection point.

Mazón, who thanked the mayor of Dénia for the welcome in his municipality, commented that it is a "historic investment by the Provincial Council, almost five million euros for electric vehicles, which not only helps us promote sustainable mobility, but above all it allows us to provide a service to the citizens, especially those of the smaller municipalities».

"Municipalism, local services, are important because the consistories must also be a reference and example of this transition towards sustainable mobility and the fight against climate change," he added.

Alcalalí, Benimantell, Benimeli, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, Callosa d'en Sarrià, Calp, Dénia, El Verger, Els Poblets, Finestrat, Gata de Gorgos, Xàbia, L'Alfàs del Pi, Pego, Polop, Teulada, La Vall of Gallinera, La Nucía, Bolulla, Murla, Benigembla, Sella, Senija, Llíber, Parcent, Beniarrés, Aigües and Tibi have been the localities benefited in this lot.
