The CNI, the Russians and the independence movement

La Moncloa reacted late to the espionage scandal, although it knew, from ERC, that the case was going to jump to the media. However, the impression of the Republicans is that in Madrid they erred in assessing the matter and believed that it was less affected. In addition, they consulted with the CNI and received guarantees that everything had been done with a court order and that, if there were others spied on with Pegasus, it could be a matter of the Russians. That version coincides with what the former director of the CNI said to the parliamentary groups in her appearance. But the data provided by the independence supporters show that it could not be the Russians, since it would mean too exhaustive knowledge on the part of Moscow of the Catalan independence movement.
