According to their own statements, four out of five people in Germany save greenhouse gases and try to do something to combat climate change. This is shown by the results of a representative online survey by the opinion research institute YouGov on behalf of the German Press Agency.

For example, 45 percent of the 2022 respondents said they were trying to buy fewer consumer goods. 40 percent do without air travel completely, 12 percent partially. Around a third (36 percent) refrain from driving, at least in part, and 13 percent completely. Almost a third (31 percent) partially avoids animal foods, 5 percent say they live vegan.

The vast majority of those surveyed are therefore trying to contribute to curbing global warming through their own behavior. A fifth vote for parties that fight climate change, 4 percent take part in protests or demonstrations for action against climate change. 15 percent said they did nothing at all.

In Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, representatives from almost 200 countries are currently negotiating the fight against global warming. At the same time, poorer countries are demanding more funding commitments from industrialized countries like the United States in order to curb climate-related damage and losses.
