Survey: Every sixth German has existential problems due to inflation

According to the survey, only 3.6 percent of Germans are in the fortunate position of noticing much or nothing at all about inflation. A good 58 percent said that they had to spend significantly more money. According to their own statements, a good 34 percent of Germans now have to fall back on savings because of the high prices.

Almost 17 percent stated that they can hardly pay their living expenses due to the increased prices. According to the information, this is 54 percent more than at the beginning of last year. Low-income households are particularly hard hit. One in four of those with a net income of less than 2,500 euros per month is in existential need.

For the survey, around 2,100 representatively selected citizens over the age of 18 were asked how inflation affects their finances. Seven out of ten respondents said they were buying less because of inflation.
