An employee of a supermarket in Schleswig-Holstein fell into a garbage compactor and died in it. According to the police on Monday, the exact circumstances of what happened were still unclear, but the investigators assumed it was a tragic accident. "Due to the situation in which it was found, an accident can be assumed at the present time," it said.

According to the police, the 69-year-old did not come home from work on Saturday and was reported missing by his wife after she discovered his car on the premises of the supermarket in Norderstedt near Hamburg on Sunday. Emergency services searched the building in vain, and a little later another supermarket employee found the missing person in the garbage compactor. This was confiscated for further investigation.
