Statistics: Population increased for eleventh consecutive year

The population of Rhineland-Palatinate has increased for the eleventh time in a row. According to a preliminary estimate by the State Statistical Office, around 4,160,000 people lived in the state at the end of 2022. "That's more people than ever before in the 75-year history of the state," said the statisticians in Bad Ems on Wednesday. The increase in population was again significantly higher than in previous years due to strong immigration - including from the Ukraine.
