Baden-Württemberg has already taken in over 141,000 refugees from Ukraine. The country surpasses all of France with this number, said Secretary of State for Migration Siegfried Lorek (CDU) on Sunday in Stuttgart.
"We therefore urgently appeal to the federal government to work at European level for fair and balanced distribution and to take appropriate measures to cushion the overload of the absorption capacities in the federal states and municipalities," said Lorek, according to the Ministry of Justice.
Justice Minister Marion Gentges (CDU) warned last month that the situation in housing refugees was getting worse. The department head had written to Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD).
