MADRID, 19 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Some thirty anti-monarchist and republican organizations, including the Socialist Youth of Madrid as well as the Madrid sections of IU and PCE, have called a rally in the capital for this Sunday to protest against the return to Spain of the King Emeritus.

The appointment, which is also signed by Anticapitalistas or the Colectivo 26 de Julio among others, is at 12:00 in the central Plaza de Ópera, very close to the Royal Palace.

In their manifesto, they denounce that "the Bourbon family demonstrates on every occasion that they are presented with their contempt for democratic institutions and equality before the law, acting as if our country were their private farmhouse."

As they recall, Don Juan Carlos "had been on the run from Spain since August 2020, when after several news about accounts in tax havens, and the intention of the Spanish Prosecutor's Office, as well as the Swiss Prosecutor's Office, to investigate the origin of those accounts " he made the decision to "go abroad to safeguard the monarchical institution" in the face of high public pressure on the monarchy.

Now, "the Prosecutor's Office has closed the investigation, mainly for one reason, that the King in Spain is inviolable", so the lawsuits filed against him "have been rejected and it has never been possible to investigate how it would have been done with any citizen more," they denounce.

"We have always been told the phrase that 'everyone is equal before the law' but in Spain, as long as the Head of State is inviolable, we will know that this phrase is a big lie, and that the harsh reality is that we have a suspected corrupt man who is going to walk around the streets of our country with total impunity".

In the current situation, in which "many people are experiencing serious difficulties to make ends meet" and that "it could get worse", "we believe that the visit of an allegedly corrupt person who is untouchable to our country is unjustifiable". In this sense, they encourage organizations, groups and individuals to join their concentration against monarchical corruption.
