After the 1-1 draw in the top game of the 2nd Bundesliga at SV Darmstadt 98, a wrong-way driver interrupted Hamburger SV's return journey on Sunday night. "The team stood for about two hours due to a wrong-way driver in a full blockage on the A7," the club said on Twitter.

According to the police, the wrong-way driver was traveling between the Guxhagen and Melsungen junctions on Autobahn 7 and collided with his car with another vehicle. Three people were slightly injured. The subsequent closure also stopped the Hamburg team bus.

Coach Tim Walter's team only arrived at the Volksparkstadion at 8 a.m. As it would not have made sense to send the players home until the scheduled recovery training, the run out and a strength session took place immediately after the return in the early morning.
