The Valencian Community already has 81 smoke-free beaches, as announced by the regional secretary of Public Health and the Public Health System, Isaura Navarro, during the conference organized by the General Directorate of Public Health and Addictions on the occasion of World Day Without Tobacco, which is commemorated every May 31.
During the act, the regional secretary handed over the Smoke-Free Beaches flags to the sixteen municipalities that have asked this year to join the initiative. With the new accessions, the network to consult here is made up of 81 beaches that add up to almost seventy kilometers of coastline.
Smoke-free beaches are places of sand or rock, coves, river beaches and others, which the municipalities agree to limit and signpost to preserve the population from the harmful effects of tobacco smoke and its residues.
Any city council that has sensitive places and decides, totally or partially, to delimit them with the consideration of "tobacco-free spaces" can join this network.
