Singer does not give up her wish: Britney Spears loses her child through a miscarriage

US singer Britney Spears announced via Instagram that she had a miscarriage and lost her child as a result. It was only a month ago that she made the pregnancy public. Despite all the grief, she wants to hold on to her desire to have children.

A month after announcing her pregnancy, US pop singer Britney Spears lost her unborn child through a miscarriage. "It is with deepest sadness that we announce the loss of our miracle baby early in pregnancy," the 40-year-old singer and her partner Sam Asghari, 28, wrote on Instagram.

Spears only announced her pregnancy again on April 11. Despite all attempts to lose weight, she gained weight and thought: "Oh dear … what happened to my stomach?" She wrote on Instagram at the time. She then did a pregnancy test, "and uhhhhh... I'm having a baby".

Spears already has two sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline: 16-year-old Sean and 15-year-old Jayden. Her ex-husband has custody of the two teenagers. After her miscarriage, the 40-year-old made it clear that she would not give up her desire for more offspring. She and Asghari would "keep trying to add to our beautiful family," the Instagram post said. In light of the sad event, the couple asked that their "privacy be respected at this difficult time."

Just a few months ago, the pop singer successfully sued her father Jamie Spears for almost 14 years. In a highly emotional statement to the court at the time, the singer said she was "traumatized" and "depressed": "I just want my life back." Her allegation that her father prevented her from having a contraceptive coil removed, even though she wanted more children, caused a sensation.

The singer of hits like "Oops! ... I Did It Again" and "Baby One More Time" was temporarily committed to a clinic in 2008 because of mental problems and was incapacitated. Her father then took over the guardianship and thus not only managed her personal affairs but also controlled her assets. In November, the Los Angeles court finally declared the pop star's guardianship over.

Asghari and Spears met while filming a music video for the song "Slumber Party" in 2016. The couple announced their engagement last year. Since then, Spears has repeatedly referred to Asghari as her "husband". Regarding the prospect of becoming a father, Asghari wrote on Instagram in April that he had always wanted this, "and I don't take it lightly. This is the most important job I will ever do."
