A 61-year-old man killed his 59-year-old ex-partner and himself in Bad Lauchstädt in Saxony-Anhalt. According to their own statements, the police were informed on Wednesday evening about a dispute in an apartment building in the small town. When the officers arrived, the 61-year-old German shot a handgun out of the window of the apartment in their direction, the police said on Thursday. The officials then initially withdrew from the woman's apartment.

When special police forces were able to gain access to the apartment a little later, they found the man and the woman with gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical measures, both died in the apartment. The investigation into a homicide in the home environment continued, the police said. What exactly happened in the apartment cannot be said at first. The motive is still unclear. The police assume that the man killed the woman and speak of a possible relationship act.
