Saxony: Alpacas, porcupines and a kangaroo: police stop vans full of animals

Police officers discovered a collection of different animal species in a transporter during a check on the Autobahn near Dresden. The 39-year-old driver transported six alpacas, two porcupines, a Parma kangaroo, eight black swans, two hen geese, a crane, 14 ducks, ten geese and a Hokko chicken in his vehicle, as the police in the Saxon state capital announced on Monday.

The animals sat for the most part in narrow cages in the hold. The man was unable to produce any valid documents. The suspect is now being investigated for violating the Federal Nature Conservation Act, and the animals were taken into the care of the veterinary office.
