Modern emergency call technology and a functioning rescue chain saved the life of a man in Bad Schwalbach after a heart attack. He collapsed on a property in the Rheingau-Taunus district from the street during the night of Saturday, just as he was dialing the emergency call, the fire department announced on Saturday.

The dispatcher on the phone knew from the fading breath sounds that it was a life-threatening emergency. Thanks to automatic location transmission via AML (Advanced Mobile Location), he was able to narrow down the location of the caller to around five meters. There, the emergency services searched for him while the operator on the phone tried to further narrow down the location by noise. At the same time, the operation was coordinated by a second operator via radio and the fire brigade and police were informed.

Five minutes after the alarm was raised, the emergency doctor was able to find the man and revive him. He was taken to the hospital and treated directly in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. In the case of a cardiac arrest, every second counts, the fire brigade explained. Without tracking or a functioning rescue chain, the chances of survival would have been significantly lower.
