Report: Finland remains the happiest country - Germany drops out of the top 20 for the first time

According to the report, behind Finland at the top of the happiest countries were also Nordic countries: Denmark, Iceland and Sweden. At the bottom of the ranking of the countries examined was Afghanistan, which has been suffering from a humanitarian catastrophe since the radical Islamic Taliban came to power again.

According to the report, none of the world's largest states are among the happiest countries. Among the countries in the top ten places, only the Netherlands and Australia have more than 15 million inhabitants. In the entire top 20, only Canada and Great Britain have more than 30 million inhabitants. Like Germany, the USA slipped out of the top 20 places for the first time and reached 23rd place.

The ranking is based, among other things, on people's self-assessment of life satisfaction as well as on gross domestic product per capita, social support, expectations of healthy years of life, the absence of corruption and the opportunity to make free decisions.
