Real Madrid: Modric is about to extend and does not want to "do a Mbappé"

Ten years after his arrival, Luka Modric does not want to leave Real Madrid. The 36-year-old Croatian midfielder, with the Merengues since 2012, is about to extend his contract with Casa Blanca. The number 10 of Real free on June 30 should keep his number for a few more seasons.

Promised to Kylian Mbappé in the event of a visit to the Spanish capital, the number 10 should not ultimately change owners. “I said several times that I wanted to end my career at Real Madrid, confides Luka Modric during an interview with Marca. I feel good, but I don't think much about the future, I focus on the present, I want to enjoy what I'm doing and gradually see what level I'm at. If I can continue at this level... Because at Real Madrid, you have to be at a very high level. If I feel strong, I would like to continue here and I hope in a few years I can finish my career here.”

During this interview, the recent winner of La Liga therefore admits to being in discussions with his club for an extension. Luka Modric wants to keep his word … unlike a certain Kylian Mbappé. “The club and I are talking. We have a good relationship... Doing the Mbappé thing? Me no. I don't, that's for sure. We have a lot of confidence. But now it's the final and that's the most important thing. I don't want to think about anything else."

In addition, the Croatian international (148 caps) claims that the Madrid locker room was not aware of the future arrival, or not, of Kylian Mbappé. “No, because we didn't know anything. I had no expectations. We talked about it a lot, for a year, but we knew nothing; whether it was going to happen or not, and that's why we need to close this issue and not talk about it anymore."
