Prospects: Mild weather and wind at the beginning of the week in Germany

Mild weather is expected in Germany in the coming days - but it will be windy. Local frost and fog as well as gusts of wind on summits and even hurricane-like gusts on the Brocken (Saxony-Anhalt) are expected on Sunday night, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced in Offenbach on Saturday.

Sunday will remain cloudy and rainy before clearing up in westerly directions and staying mostly dry. In the east and south, away from the thick patches of fog, there is even the sun. The maximum temperatures rise to five to 13 degrees. In addition, a weak and otherwise picking up, gusty wind is blowing in the south-east. During the night on Monday it will only be mostly dry in the north-east and a very gusty wind will blow, in the mountains there will also be squalls. Temperatures drop to between seven degrees and minus one degree.

Lots of clouds and rain in some areas are expected again on Monday, which will turn into snow in the mountains. Brief thunderstorms are also possible in the south. Temperatures will rise up to ten degrees. The wind picks up especially in the southwest half and there are gusts of wind at high altitudes. In the night on Tuesday there are more showers, which also fall as snow in the mountains. The temperatures will cool down to zero degrees and in the higher mountains light frost and smoothness are expected. On Tuesday, the showers will retreat to the south-east and the snowfall in the Alps will ease. It stays temporarily dry and the sun even shows up in the eastern half. Later it rains again at up to nine degrees. In addition, a moderate to strong wind will blow and there will be gusts of wind in the mountains.
