The costs and prices are rising in all areas of life - and so are food stalls. In Frankfurt am Main, the increased kebab prices in a restaurant are causing a stir: in the "Ton Bul Grill- und Kebap-Haus" a kebab now costs ten euros.

"It's not about the money, it's about survival," says owner Ugor Yumusakbas of the Frankfurter Neue Presse. We want to continue to focus on quality. "If you want to stay in business, you have to offer poor quality or raise prices," he says. With the price increase, Yumusakbas does not want to make more profit, but only wants to cover the costs. He speaks of an "insane time" in which we find ourselves.

On the internet, many customers expressed a lack of understanding for the kebab prices at the Frankfurt kebap house. "The quality of the doner kebab is great and it tastes good. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio no longer fits here," says one user of the "Ton Bul Grill and Kebap House" on Google. Another writes: "With all inflation-related understanding: the price-performance ratio is drifting massively apart at €10 per kebab. I'll be back if you lower it to €7."

A customer suggests: "I would suggest showing transparently how the costs have increased and how much more it now costs to produce a doner kebab. Otherwise it no longer looks credible."

The snack bar had already announced the price increases on its Facebook page in October: "The framework conditions on the meat and raw materials market have worsened significantly in recent years," the statement said. "So that we can continue to bake delicious kebabs and oven-fresh products for our customers, we are adjusting our prices."
