Police report that a woman was stabbed at Mercy Surgery Center

SPRINGFIELD (Mo. (KY3) - Police placed the Mercy Surgery Center under lockdown following a stabbing incident in a staircasewell.

It took place at 7:15 a.m. on Friday at the Seminole and National buildings in Springfield.

Mercy's Sony Kullmann claims the woman is an employee. Police say that she was in a relationship to the suspect. He fled the scene and is still at large. The victim's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening by police.

Mercy's main hospital, located nearby, was also placed on lockdown. However, it has since reopened. The surgery center is still closed.

Mercy tweeted that she would contact patients who were scheduled to be present in the building today to cancel or transfer them to another location.
