Police operation: Young people and the police are playing a game of cat and mouse

On Saturday afternoon, there was a clash between dozens of teenagers and young adults and the police in downtown Hamburg. A dpa photographer observed, among other things, how police officers were spat on and firecrackers were thrown. Bottles lay around.

According to a police spokesman, according to initial findings, there had previously been a call via social media for clothing to be given away. The spokesman said that the person who started the call did not appear. The frustrated young people would therefore have sought the police as opponents. In the meantime, a good 200 young people had been on site. In the late afternoon there were still about 50. Some were taken into custody. Exact numbers and other details were not initially available.
