The journalist from La Vanguardia International Plàcid García-Planas and special envoy for the Barcelona newspaper to different armed conflicts, the last one being the war in Ukraine, has won the XXXVII Cirilo Rodríguez Journalism Award after a close vote in which the correspondent was also present of El País in Central America and the Caribbean, Jacobo García, and the Brussels correspondent of Cadena SER, Griselda Pastor.

When awarding the prize, the jury valued García-Planas (Sabadell, 1962) for his "honesty towards language and his capacity for tension between language and literature".

Throughout his career, Plàcid García-Planas has covered conflicts as a reporter, among others, such as the one in the Balkans, in the 1990s, or the Middle East.

In addition to his articles and journalistic reports in La Vanguardia, Plàcid García-Planas has published several books such as La revancha del reporter, in which he follows various war correspondents from La Vanguardia since 1893, or Jazz in Hitler's office, where it serves as a paradox to recount the atrocities of the war.

Other titles published by the journalist from Sabadell are Like an angel without permission, where he talks about legal arms trafficking.

The Cirilo Rodríguez Journalistic Award, sponsored by the Segovia City Council, is endowed with 8,000 euros and a sculpture from the Royal Glass Factory of La Granja.

During the awards ceremony, a tribute was paid to the journalist Dolores Masana for her long professional career, being head of La Vanguardia International for 20 years and previously a reporter on wars and armed conflicts. She was awarded the Cirilo Rodríguez Prize of honor.
