Peugeot bets on selling only electric cars in 2030

The year 2035 is marked on the calendar for vehicle manufacturers and buyers. It is the date that, if the plenary session of the European Union does not modify it, the Environment Commission has established as a limit on the sale of internal combustion cars. In other words, from that date only electric vehicles will be able to be marketed.

A rapid process that requires a process of awareness on the part of users, and the implementation of public charging points in the case of Spain, which occupies the penultimate place in Europe, just ahead of Greece, in the number of installations recharge per inhabitant.

The brands themselves have put their batteries, and, in the case of Peugeot, it is set as an objective that by 2030 all the cars it sells will be electric. Currently, 80% of its range already has electrified versions, that is, either 100% electric or plug-in hybrids. In the case of commercial vehicles, 100% of its model offer already has electric versions.

To publicize this complete range of vehicles, the firm has organized the Peugeot e-Xperience Days, which are held from May 20 to 22 in the Spanish capital. To enjoy the opportunity to discover the electrified universe of the brand, those interested simply have to register in the open form at https://www.peugeot-e-xperiencedays.es.

With 12 models with electric or plug-in hybrid versions that cover all kinds of categories and segments, the star of this event is the 308 SW plug-in hybrid, which thus makes its presentation in Spain. It combines a 150 hp PureTech gasoline engine with an 81 kW electric motor, offering emissions of 25 g/km of CO2 WLTP and up to 60 km of 100% electric autonomy. The top of the range is represented by the HYBRID 225 e-EAT8 drive chain, which emits from 26 g/km and allows driving up to 59 km in "zero emissions" mode. Both versions enjoy the advantages of the "Zero" label from the General Directorate of Traffic.

But the electrified offer begins with the most urban models. Thus, the 208 is available as a 100% electric model, with 136 CV of power and features designed to be enjoyed at the wheel: it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds, and with up to 340 km of autonomy.

The next step is occupied by the e-2008, the most Spanish 100% electric SUV. This model develops 100 kW of power. In terms of performance, it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.1 seconds and offers a torque of 260 Nm at all speeds. Its 50 kWh battery allows it to reach a range of 310 km.

The larger models, like the 308 SW, use a plug-in hybrid system. Thus, the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid is available in the Hybrid 300 version, with four-wheel drive and up to 300 hp, and the Hybrid, with front-wheel drive, which develops 225 hp. Both enjoy the advantages of the "Zero" label from the General Directorate of Traffic: free access and free parking in the center of many Spanish cities, even during pollution peaks.

Finally, the Peugeot 508 is characterized by offering the highest performance of the entire range, since it adds a 180 hp/132 kW PureTech petrol engine to an 80 kW/110 hp electric motor to offer a maximum combined power of 225 hp/165 kW. kW, with CO2 emissions less than 49 g/Km. Its 11.8 kWh capacity battery ensures a range of up to 40 kilometers in 100% electric mode, more than enough distance for urban or suburban journeys.

To solve the problems related to domestic charging, Peugeot has just created, within the Stellantis group, the new e-Solutions brand, through which a charger can be accessed from around 500-600 euros, which would have to be add the cost of the installation (around 1,000 euros depending on the characteristics of the car park), and subtract the possibility of a 70% subsidy through the Moves Plan.
