Pedro Sánchez: Europe's enemies "are not in the Kremlin, they are also in Spain"

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has pointed out that Russia's invasion of Ukraine is not only a dispute between the two countries, but is part of a strategy by Vladimir Putin to bring down the project, and has warned, in reference to VOX, that the "enemies of Europe are not in the Kremlin", but also "are in Spain".

During an act together with the socialist candidate for the presidency of the government of the Junta de Andalucía, and general secretary of the PSOE-A, Juan Espadas, in an act in Torredelcampo (Jaén), the president accused the Putin regime of trying to weaken the European project, financing political parties that were betting "for a smaller Europe, for a weak Europe and not for a larger and stronger Europe".

"The enemies of Europe, brothers and sisters, are not in the Kremlin, they are also on our borders, they are also in Spain", Sánchez remarked, alleging that "what is a risk for Europe cannot be a solution for Andalusia ".

Along these lines, Sánchez has underlined the "importance and validity of today's Europe", in addition to claiming the role of social democracy in the region, according to Europa Press.

"Social democracy governs the economy in a much more efficient, equitable way, and certainly without corruption, that is what social democracy does in Europe, and that is what we are doing here in Spain," he said.

Likewise, the president has remarked that "it is not the same" to opt for a left-wing or a right-wing government. At this point, the President of the Government has made reference to some of the achievements reaped by the Executive, such as the more than 20 million affiliates to Social Security, the deployment of the Minimum Vital Income, the rise in the Minimum Interprofessional Salary (SMI) up to 1,000 or link the revaluation of pensions to the CPI.

“It is not the same that the left governs the right, because all this did not happen with a right-wing government, nor with a pandemic or with war, this happens thanks to a progressive government led by the socialist party despite the pandemic and despite of the war," he added.

Regarding the approval of the mechanism to limit the price of gas for electricity generation, Sánchez explained that it will have an impact of a reduction of between 15% and 30% in the electricity bill and will benefit 30 million of Spaniards.

"That is what the government is doing, claiming healthy politics, politics that puts the general interest before all the noise and all the turbulence that may be suffered throughout these difficult times that we are living with a pandemic and a war", commented the president.

In this regard, Pedro Sánchez has criticized the position of the right, which advocates an "unhealthy" policy that "puts partisan interests first and runs over the interests of citizens."

"That is unhealthy politics, the politics that the right always practices when it is in opposition, the politics that puts its partisan interests first and runs over the interests of citizens," Sánchez commented.
