The General Assembly of Family Businesses of Castilla y León (EFCL) has elected Pedro Palomo, CEO of the Octaviano Palomo Group of Companies, as the new president of this entity that brings together 170 family businesses from the entire region.

In his speech, at the inauguration of the VIII Regional Congress of Family Businesses, Palomo has advanced the priority lines of action for his two years in office, which include "fighting" and defending the interests of the family business and, therefore, of the whole society.

“Family businesses are the lifeblood of the industrial fabric of our Community. If we defend our interests tooth and nail, it is not just for ourselves, it is for the whole community, to sustain and increase a better standard of living and services for all citizens and to ensure that today's young people can always live better," Palomo assured.

He also recalled that, although family businesses have withstood a few "very hard" years thanks to their differential characteristics, they now have "many challenges to face" ahead of them, so it is necessary that they not put "stones in the way or many companies will have a hard time.

Thus, he insisted that the association will continue to act "to try that, as it has always done", companies continue their activity and family businesses can do what they like best: "create wealth and employment and work and work".

In this sense, the new president of EFCL has specified that one of his priority lines for these two years will be to work so that the association continues to be an agent of relevant opinion on issues that affect business activity.

"What we want is for the political agenda to have as a priority the issues that really interest its citizens and, in our case, companies, and move away from sterile debates more in the face of the gallery and its partisan interests," he indicated. Palomo in statements collected by Ep.
