Pandemic: Slightly fewer Covid patients in Brandenburg clinics

The corona situation in the Brandenburg hospitals has eased somewhat compared to the previous week. On Thursday, 908 patients with Covid-19 were being treated in clinics, the Ministry of Health in Potsdam announced. A week earlier, at 998, the number had almost reached the threshold of 1,000 that the state government had set as a mark. However, the number of new corona patients per 100,000 inhabitants rose slightly again in one week to 16. The country's warning light is still flashing red because the alarm value of 10 has been exceeded. The proportion of free intensive care beds recently fell to 16.4 – but the warning light is still in the green area.

The seven-day incidence - that is the number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week - fell significantly to 554 in Brandenburg. A week earlier it was just under 691. According to the Ministry of Health, the highest value is reached in Frankfurt (Oder) with around 775, the lowest in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district with almost 415. No city or district has an incidence of over 1000 In one day, 2,497 new cases were added nationwide.

The cabinet had extended the regulation to protect against the virus by four weeks until November 24 on Tuesday. This means that passengers on public buses and trains as well as visitors to communal accommodation for refugees and the homeless must continue to wear an FFP2 mask. The federal government also prescribes them for passengers in long-distance public transport and visitors to medical practices, hospitals and nursing homes. Health Minister Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) considers it necessary to expand the mask requirement because she still considers the situation to be tense despite slightly falling values. However, the CDU had opposed it.
