This Friday, May 27, on the occasion of Armed Forces Day 2022, the open days of the El Bruc barracks will take place in Barcelona, ​​which will last throughout the weekend. The military commander of Barcelona and Tarragona, Joaquín Broch Hueso, will be in charge of opening the event, which will be attended by civil and military authorities.

The official reception will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the barracks library, fifteen minutes later the guided tour of the authorities by the different exhibitors will begin, in which different dynamics have been scheduled, such as a concert by the Music Unit of the General Inspection of the Army in the parade ground. At 12:30 p.m. the traditional flag-raising will take place and at 1:00 p.m. the barracks will open to the public, kicking off a weekend full of activities.

The celebration of the Day of the Armed Forces is celebrated every year on the Sunday closest to the name day of King Don Fernando III, on May 30. It is a festival that dates back to 1978 when an annual commemoration was established that honors the Armies and promotes knowledge and integration between them and society. Nowadays it is a festival where, to the traditional military acts, other popular activities are added that motivate a greater participation of the population.

On May 27 and 29, the Navy patrol boat 'Infanta Cristina' will join the celebration, calling at the Barcelona Norte wharf, and will participate in a multitude of events that the Army plans to carry out. It will be open to the public from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday 28, and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday the 29th.
