North Carolina's sheriff's deputy was shot and taken to the hospital.

According to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Dijon Howms was shot during a traffic stop.
According to the statement, Whyms and a suspect had a heated exchange and took a bath before being taken to a local hospital.

The suspect is currently being held at the hospital by police.

Whyms, who is a veteran of the department, is in stable health.

This incident occurs the day after a Moore County sheriff shot an armed man who tried to confront officers responding to noise complaints.
