Non-community travelers can enter Spain with a negative test from this Saturday

MADRID, 21 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Travelers from non-EU countries can enter Spain with a negative Covid-19 test from this Saturday, according to the order of the Ministry of the Interior that relaxes the requirements and that has been published in the latest Official State Gazette (BOE).

According to the order, travelers entering Spain through air or sea borders, regardless of their place of origin, will have to present one of these three certificates: vaccination, recovery -- issued at least 11 days after confirmation of the infection, valid for 180 days--, or a negative test --PCR or similar carried out in the 72 hours prior to departure to Spain or antigens carried out in the previous 24 hours--.

In addition, children under 12 years of age will be exempt from presenting any type of certificate. Likewise, passengers arriving by sea and air provided with an EU digital covid certificate or recognized as equivalent by the European Commission, will not have to complete the SPTH Health Control Form.

Thus, Spain no longer requires a vaccination certificate against Covid-19 from non-EU tourists, equating their entry requirements to those of travelers from European Union countries and Schengen associated countries.

The Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, stressed that this comparison is "excellent news", especially for the Spanish tourism sector, as it will make it easier for tourists from outside Europe to visit Spain this high season "guaranteeing safe mobility.

"Spain is emerging as one of the most desired destinations in the world, as shown by the demand indicators that month after month are approaching pre-pandemic levels and this measure will speed up the recovery of the sector by facilitating the entry of international travellers" , added Maroto, according to a statement from his portfolio.
