It will be hard to blame visiting starting pitcher Hunter Greene in the loss. After seven innings, the Gunner was still hoping for a run-free and hit-free game. However, after registering the first out of the eighth inning, he walked two.

Greene (1-6) was withdrawn in favor of reliever Art Warren. The latter first allowed a third walk in a row, before seeing his teammates miss a double play that would have ended the threat. Rodolfo Castro then took the opportunity to cross the plate, scoring the only point of the game.

Despite the setback, Greene and Warren teamed up for a no-hitter, though they walked six. The starter also made nine opponents bite the dust.

On the Pirates side, pitcher Jose Quintana did very well, even if it was not his performance that caught the eye. He was finally retired after seven innings of work, after allowing only three hits and one walk, in addition to passing five batters in the mitt. Despite this performance, Quintana was not involved in the decision. Instead, the win went to reliever Chris Stratton (2-1), while David Bednar had his seventh save of the season.

After a rather difficult start to the season, Quebecer Abraham Toro seems to be quietly finding his bearings. In the Seattle Mariners duel of the day, in New York, he helped his team win 8-7 against the Mets.

Among other things, he produced a run, on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. Toro also had two hits, a double and a single, in the third and sixth innings respectively. On each occasion, he was able to complete his lap of the trails thanks to Cal Raleigh.

Toro's next challenge will be a big one as he travels north of the Canada-US border, where the Mariners begin a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday.
