After the discovery of a child's corpse in Bad Blankenburg, Thuringia, the corpse is to be autopsied, according to the State Criminal Police Office. This is part of the police investigative work, said an LKA spokeswoman on Monday when asked. She did not comment on the autopsy date. The murder commission of the LKA is investigating on suspicion of killing the child whose body was found on Friday on the outskirts of the resort with around 6000 inhabitants near the Schwarzatal in south-east Thuringia. The mother's partner is being investigated, as the LKA announced on Saturday.
The body was therefore discovered on Friday, but further information on the age and whether it was a boy or a girl was not initially given. It also remained unclear whether and for how long the child had been searched for. A suspicion had been in the room for several days, it was only said by the LKA.
A plot of land in a garden with bungalows was sealed by the police on Saturday. According to the "Bild" newspaper, the dead child is said to be a three-year-old girl who is said to have been underground for a long time. The public prosecutor's office in Gera, which is responsible for the investigation, did not provide any further information on the case on Monday and justified this with the ongoing investigation.
