On the occasion of the European Day of Music (June 21), the Department of Education and Culture, in collaboration with the educational centers of Illescas, organizes shows in the Covered Stage Space for students from Early Childhood Education to Secondary Education. For four days, different musical styles designed for each educational level will be enjoyed.

The 'Music at School' initiative seeks to promote this art within schools and institutes, so that both students and families understand the importance and benefits of studying this subject and how it influences the learning of other subjects .

This Tuesday, 800 children from Early Childhood Education, along with their families, were invited to 'My first concert' with the company Dubbi Kids.

The content of the show is based on the benefits that music brings such as intellectual, auditory, speech, sensory and motor development; improves learning ability and improves body control.

This Wednesday afternoon it was the turn of 'Illescas Canta', the seed of 'Música en la Escuela'. Four years ago, the School and Band of the Manuel de Falla Musical Foundation in Illescas proposed to schools the organization of a show in which the students were the protagonists. In this way, the first edition of 'Illescas Canta' was held, in which the music band accompanies a large choir made up of children from local schools. In this third edition (in 2020 and 2021 it was not held due to the covid-19 pandemic) there is a choir made up of 1,000 Primary School children who have voluntarily joined the initiative.

To end the week, both this Thursday and Friday, Primary and Secondary students will leave the classroom to enjoy live music and learn with b vocal and Yllana. On Thursday, 2,800 schoolchildren from 1st to 6th grade will learn more about the voice through the different musical styles that have marked the times of human development. For their part, 2,000 secondary school students will spend part of Friday morning enjoying the history of rock thanks to a 'show-concert-tribute'.

From the Department of Education and Sports, its manager, Carlos Amieba, thanked the educational centers and the Manuel de Falla Musical Foundation of Illescas for their collaboration in an event that will add more than 6,500 participants in four days. As indicated by the councilor, "citizens are invited to understand music as well as an entertainment tool, an element that enriches our lives and allows the expression of emotions and feelings."
